Attending the Physics Olympiad is a remarkable opportunity for high-school students. The next International Physics Olympiad will be held in Lisbon, Portugal, in July 2018, where teams of 5 from dozens of countries will participate.
The placement exam for the Harvard Physics Circle will be held in 9/14/2017. All high school students from Massachusetts are eligible to participate. We will select a group of 50 high school students, and continuously instruct them throughout the year, preparing them for the first screening exam for the US Physics Olympiad team, known as the "F=ma" exam, to be held in January 2018. The mentoring will be done by undergraduate and graduate students, primarily from Harvard, starting in October and continuing through January.
The placement exam will be held on Thursday 9/14 at 6 pm, in Jefferson 256. See a map of the Harvard campus here.
Format: the exam will be similar to the "F=ma" exam. It will consist of 25 multiple-choice questions, and its duration will be 75 minutes. See examples of previous exams here. The instructions for the exam can be found here.
